Daniel E. Casey, 59, of Point Judith Road, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec 4 at Rhode Island Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Well-known to the Galilee fishing community, he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the State of Rhode Island Dept. of Coastal Resources in Galilee, after 31 years before retiring in 2008 and also worked part-time unloading commercial fishing boats. Known as a gentle and generous soul with an excellent sense of humor, he enjoyed traveling to Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean. He graduated Bishop Hendricken High School in 1977.

He is survived by his father, Jack Casey of Pt. Judith; brother Michael, his wife Laurie, their children Evan, Christin, Johnathan, Maryann; Matthew and Kerin (Casey) MacGuire and their daughter, Juliet Rose of Jamestown; brother, Mark of San Francisco, and Danny’s girlfriend Colleen Champlin of Narragansett. He was predeceased by his mother, Rosemarie (Dee Dee) in 2012.

Visiting hours will be at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, South Kingstown, Friday, Dec 7 from 4 pm to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec 8 at 10 am at Our Lady of the Star Chapel, Christian Brothers Center, 635 Ocean Road, Narragansett. Burial will be private

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pt. Judith Fisherman’s Scholarship Fund.
