KIRKWOOD, Ill. - John Avery, 73, Kirkwood, died Tuesday, July 27, in Monmouth hospital.
He was born May 8, 1898 in Dallas City, Ill., the son of Joseph and Cynthia Waterman Avery. He married Merle Wolford on July 21, 1922, in Burlington.
Surviving: the wife, seven sons, Walter, Smithshire, Ill., Wilbut, Jesse, and Gary, Kirkwood, Ill., Rex, Sandwich, Ill., Tom, Little York, Ill., and Gerald, Burlington; three daughters, Mrs. Betty McMeen, Galesburg, Ill; Mrs. Margie Cameron, Oquawka, Ill., and Mrs. Dorothy Lipes, Kirkwood, Ill; 26 grandchildren; two great-granchildren; four brothers, Chet, Stronghurst, Ill., Ernest, Bellflower, Calif., Everett, Peoria, Ill., Cleo, Santa Ann, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ruby McPherron, Bedford, Iowa.
Funeral: Friday, 2:30 p.m. Corman Funeral Memorial home, Roseville, Ill.; Center Grove cemetery in Kirkwood, Ill.
