Mrs. Cynthia Fife Layton, 76 years old and resident of Arizona 63 years, died yesterday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alma V. Tate, 821 East Edgemont Avenue.
The body will be taken to Thatcher, where Mrs. Layton spent most of her years; funeral services being scheduled for 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Thatcher Ward Chapel of the Latter-Day Saints Church.
Born in Ogden, Utah, Mrs Layton came to Arizona with her parents in 1880. The family settled in Cochise County. Her husband, the late Joseph Layton, was first president of the St. Joseph Stake of the Latter-Day Saints Church in the upper Gila valley. They resided at Thatcher for many years.
Mrs. Layton was active in church work, serving as president of the St. Joseph Stake Primary Association for 30 years and was a past president of its Relief Society. She had been in failing health for some time, but came to Phoenix only two weeks ago to spend the winter with her daughter.
In addition to Mrs. Tate, she is survived by two other daughter, Mrs. Edna Jones, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Caroline Naylor, Safford, and a son , Joseph Layton, Los Angeles.
