On December 5, 2018, Carolyn Jean Swords Denton went home to meet her Heavenly Father surrounded by her family after an extended illness. Carolyn was born August 31, 1947, to Enoch and Cora Lee Dorrough Swords. She was a 1967 graduate of Ingomar high school. Carolyn was married to Paul Denton for twenty-six years until his death August 24, 1993. Carolyn worked for many years in both the hospital and then the furniture industry. Her favorite past-time was caring for others, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook for her large family and have them gather in her home. Christmas time was her favorite. Her door was always open. She was a collector of snow globes, a lover of flowers, and enjoyed working in the garden when she was able. She was a member of Cairo Baptist Church. Services will be Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11AM at Cairo Baptist Church in Ecru, MS with Dr. Terry Cutrer officiating. Burial will follow in Cairo Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements. Survivors: 1 daughter-Katherine Swinford(Delbert) of Ecru; 4 sons-Paul Denton, Jr. of Ecru, Rusty Denton(Roben) of Ingomar, Roger Denton(Mary) of Amory and David Denton(Brenda) of Algoma; 2 sisters-Linda Stepp of Mantachie and Mary Ann Denton of Ingomar; 6 brothers-Joe Swords(Arlene) of Shady Grove, Hub Swords(Deloris) of Southaven, Dean Swords(Becky) of Martintown, Jerry Swords of Ecru, Danny "Chuck" Swords(Lenita) of Buchanan and Jackie Swords of Ingomar; 2 granddaughters-Tiffany McCraw and Megan Denton; 9 grandsons-Andrew, Matthew, Jason, Chris, Corey, Justin, Brandon, John Paul and Jack Denton; and 14 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband-Paul Denton, Sr.; her parents-Enoch and Cora Lee Swords and 1 brother-Bobby Swords. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday, December 6, 5-8PM at the church and Friday, December 7, 10AM until service time at the church.
