Max D. Allen, age 88, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Azura Memory Care in Oshkosh, WI.

Max was born on November 2, 1930 in Findlay, OH, the son of Wilbur and Thelma (Armstrong) Allen. He attended high school in Findlay, and went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army.

He worked at Speed Queen in Ripon for many years in research and development. Max also was a volunteer at the Ripon Hospital and a proud member of the Harmony Kings Barbershop Chorus.

In his early years he loved bowling and playing softball. Throughout his life he enjoyed singing, golfing, and was a talented artist. He had his private pilot's license and had a passion for flying, skydiving, and even went parachuting after retirement. Max will be remembered for always having a song in his heart and sharing it with everyone he greeted.

Max is survived by his children, Kim (Mary) Allen and Penny (Terry Timmons) Reyes both of Green Lake, WI; the mother of his children, Arlene "Teeter" Allen; grandchildren, Matthew (significant other, Bessie) Allen, Lindsay (Brett) Barkelar, Jessica Thorson, Nathan Wagner, Adrian Reyes, Braydon Reyes, and Brittny (James) Gerig; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald "Mike" Allen of TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Thelma Allen; his significant other of 33 years, Mary Groth; four sisters; and two brothers.

A Celebration of Life for Max will be held from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the American Legion Post 306, 518 Water St., Green Lake, WI, 54941. Final Salute with Military Funeral Honors will take place at 12:00 pm at the Legion. A private family inurnment will take place at St. Stainislaus Cemetery, Berlin, WI, at a later date.

A memorial in Max's name is being established.

His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Azura Memory Care in Oshkosh and Generations Hospice for their wonderful care of Max.
