He accepted Christ at a young age. Roland attended St. Francis School and was a 1967 graduate of Howard High School. He received his associate's degree in Business Education from Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. Roland was a self-employed salesman for several years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tara Jones; parents, William and Barbara Jones; grandparents, Lovett and Odessa Graves; sister, Sylvia Jones; brothers, William Jones and Billy Blaylock; brother-in-law, Robert Ramey.
Survivors include his sisters, Jacquelyn (Jimmy) Tankersley, Beverly (Micheal) McKeldin, and Renee Ramey; brothers, Horace Jones, Reginald (Alfreda) Jones, Donald Jones, Ronald Jones, Herbert Jones, and David (Sara) Jones; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 10, at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Willie Paul as the eulogist. Burial will be in Tyner Cemetery.
