YOUNG, JR., Ivory Lee age 56, of Atlanta, GA passed on November 16, 2018.

The Celebration of Life Service for the Honorable, Ivory Lee Young, Jr. will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Processional at 10:45 AM. Service will begin promptly at 11:00 AM at Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College, 830 Westview Dr. SW, Atlanta, GA 30314. Rev. Tracey Wheeler, officiating. Interment, Greenwood Cemetery.
Ivory Lee Young, Jr. was born in Butler, Alabama on August 12, 1962. He was the eldest of four children born to Ivory Lee Young, Sr. and the late Susie Mae Young. Growing up in a military family that spanned 30 years of his father’s military service, Ivory traveled the world and lived in numerous and diverse communities. His professional legacy includes providing professional Planning, Architecture and Construction services for more than 30 years. Ivory Young was a leader in community development, politics, and his Christian faith. His life can be defined by his activism. He served six years as a Neighborhood Planning Unit (NPU) officer. In 2001 he was elected to serve as the District 3 Representative on the Atlanta City Council. His strong leadership and collaborative problem-solving skills have resulted in adopting a policy with a long-term positive impact on the city. Ivory earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Hampton University. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. On Friday, November 16, 2018, the Honorable Ivory Lee Young, Jr made his final transition peacefully in the arms of God. He is survived by his proud father, retired Sergeant Major Ivory Lee Young, Sr., his loving wife of 9 years, Shalise Steele Young, his children, Natia Todd, and Ankiera Ramsey; his grandchildren, Vincent Malachi, David Matthew, and Naomi Joy; and his siblings Deborah Ann Young-Hall (Lonnie), Vincent N. Young (Kelly), and Vanessa N. Manley (James).
