SPARTANBURG – Don Owen Roberts, 77, passed away at 4:34 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Reid Health in Richmond.
He was born in Sparta, TN on April 6, 1941 to Claudie L. Roberts and Mary Gladys (Haney) Roberts. Both his parents preceded him in death.
Don was a 1959 graduate of Mooreland High School He was an Auto mechanic and Truck Driver for many years. He retired from Schneider International Trucking.
He married Sue (Jennings) on July 1, 1962 in Spartanburg Christian Church.
Don enjoyed bluegrass music, IU Basketball, Colts Football, NASCAR, playing cards and his grandkids. He played the guitar.
He was a member of Antique Tractor Club of Randolph County and enjoyed Antique Tractors especially, Farmall Tractors.
Don will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Sue Roberts; children, Lisa K. (husband, David) Nessel of Centerville, Randy O. (wife, Monica) Roberts of Farmland, Brett A. (wife, Kris) Roberts of Fairmount and Shelley R. Fritts of Lynn; sister, Wilma J. (husband, John) Spencer of Lynn; brother, Harold (wife, Pam) Roberts of Lynn; grandchildren, Nicholas (wife, Jessica) Roberts, Courtney Nessel, Matthew Nessel, Evan Roberts, Emmarae Roberts, Samantha Roberts, Elijah Roberts, Darci (spouse, Amy) Kenworthy and Cassandra Fritts; great-grandchildren, Major Minor, Mason Roberts and Jonah Kenworthy; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Spartanburg Christian Church, 6714 East 700 South, Lynn, IN with Rev. Brian Richmond officiating. Visitation will be from 11 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the church.
Burial will follow at Spartanburg Cemetery.
