Ray was born on March 31, 1925 in Fillmore, MO to June and Olah Craig. After the war he returned home and married Hilda Grimes of Faucett, Missouri. After the death of Hilda’s parents, Ray and Hilda, along with Hilda’s sister and her husband, took two of their siblings and moved to Des Moines to start a truck hauling business and raise the boys.

After the birth of Ray and Hilda’s children, Ken and Mary, Ray began his long career of driving a cement truck, which lasted for over 40 years for multiple concrete companies.

Ray was a member of First United Methodist Church, a life-long St. Louis Cardinal fan…loved playing the guitar…and was a regular at the local country music dance halls on Saturday nights.

Ray is survived by his children: Ken (Chris) Craig of Des Moines; Mary (Tim) Goheen of Irvine, CA; grandchildren: Tom Craig (Jillian) of Des Moines; Ted (Whitney) Craig of Des Moines; Annie Craig of Des Moines; and great grandson Elliott Craig.
