Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of Russell S. Franklin and Della M. McCulley.
At an early age, Russell showed an interest in artifacts of antiquarian nature, started with enthusiastic bottle digging. Over time he developed a passion and keen eye for "finds" at yard and estate sales, becoming adept at selecting objects he could readily resell, often at a satisfying profit.
Russell married Anna Mortimer and, with the help of his Uncle Myron, built a home in Oneco for their family.
After his marriage ended, Russell met Linda Fish, his beloved partner for two decades.
Predeceased by his brother, Michael Wayne Franklin.
A private graveside service will be held Thursday at the Riverside Cemetery in Oneco.
