John attended Skyeston High School in Skyeston, ND. He worked as a postal worker for 35 years for USPS in Salem, WV. He was a huge sports fan and loved any North Dakota teams. He loved running, which he took up late in life, and he could talk to anyone and never met a stranger.
John is survived by his two sons, Jim Richter and his wife, Toni of Bridgeport, WV and Rob Richter and his wife, Brenda of Salem, WV; five grandchildren, Brandon, Nick and Justin Richter, Maria Osbourne & her husband, Mitch and Nicole Moravy & her husband, Craig; five great grandchildren, Avery, Addison & Alexa Osbourne, Nicholas & Mason Moravy; two sisters, Cathy Eastham of San Francisco, CA and Betty Nolz of Portland, OR; one brother Tommy Richter and his wife Mary of Whitehall, WI; a sister-in-laws, Arlene Richter, Jamestown, ND and Mary Jo Hickman & her husband, Tom of Salem, WV; three brother-in-laws, Gene Fahey, Paul Fahey & his wife, Betty and Bill Fahey & his wife, Vicki, all of Salem, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Jo Richter; one grandson Declan Richter; siblings, Vernon J. Richter, Clarence Richter and wife Margarete, Adrian Richter and wife Fran, Lillian Cissell and husband George, Mary Boner and husband Charlie, Teresa Theriault and husband Bill, Joseph Richter and wife; and three sister-in-laws, Helen Minnich, Iris Fahey and Joy Lee Fahey.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Friday December 7, 2018 from 3-7; Catholic Funeral Rites will be held in the Chapel of Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 10:00 am with Father Akila Rodrigo and Father William A. Anderson, as presiders. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
