Eugene "Gene" Buckner
Gene as every one called him, passed away June 29, 2016 at home on Maggie Drive after a short illness. Gene was born May 19, 1922 on Mill Creek Road, Charleston, WV and reborn accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior June 26, 2016. His parents were George Bratton Buckner and Abigail Larter Buckner preceded him in death. Gene married Lucille Karnes whom he affectionately called "Ludy" on June 23, 1950.

He served in World War II Army Air Force. He graduated from Elkview High School in 1940. He retired from Dupont Co. after 36 years in the electrical department.

Gene was a quiet person, he stayed home most of the time. He missed his brother Ben (2009) so much, they like to sit on the porch every day and talk for hours.

Gene loved his family dearly, he leaves wife of 66 years Lucille; daughter, Lagail Ashworth and husband, Ronald of Sissonville; son, Calvin Grayling Buckner and wife, Terry of Mill Creek Road, Charleston; two grandsons, Eric Ashworth of Sissonville and Daniel Buckner of Charleston and his dog, Oscar. Sister-in-law, Corriene Buckner of Charleston; two nephews, and brother-in-law Nolan Karnes and wife Oleta of South Charleston.

Burial in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
