Molly Hessert Oberst, 80, of Murrells Inlet, died Thursday, Nov. 29, at Embrace Hospice after an illness.
Mrs. Oberst was born Sept. 3, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of the late George Walter Hessert and Ann Hessert Cary. She grew up in Calvert County, Md., and lived most her adult life in Clinton, Md. She was employed for many years by the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C., before retiring in Murrells Inlet in 1997.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oberst was predeceased by her husband, Robert F. Oberst, her brother George “Smokey” Hessert and her sister Jo Ann Cooke.
She is survived by her daughters Virginia “Ginger” Paddack and her husband Allan of Granbury, Texas, and Vicki Bell and her husband Doug of Conway; her sisters Anna King of Brandywine, Md., Pauline Dickens of Murrells Inlet, Evelyn Lyons of Queenstown, Md., and Bernadette Benson of La Plata, Md.; her grandson Christian Paddock; and many nieces nephews across the country. Mrs. Oberst was also blessed with many good and caring friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 3, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2105 E. Highway 501 in Conway. Pastor Joan Scheffler officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
