MOUNT HOLLY - Tony Leon Horton, 74, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016.
He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Margaret Louise Whitley and Wylie Woodrow Horton.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Ricky Horton and Brenda Peaslee.
He retired from Duke Power after over 36 years.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Horton; three children, Shannon Horton and wife Tina of Mount Holly, Michael Horton of Lowell and Wendy Nicholson and husband Todd of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Daniel Horton, Hunter Nicholson, Matthew Horton, Kyle Nicholson, Whitney Schineder, DJ Aikens and Joni Ashe; great-grandchildren, Mason Horton, Gavin Canaday, Bella, TC, and Brantley.
Also survived by a sister, Gearlen Horton Hoffman and husband Steve of Matthews; and two brothers, Jimmy and Ted Horton both of Mount Holly.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Horton will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery in Mount Holly.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday March 20, 2016 at the funeral home.
