On Thursday, November 22, 2018, Michael Schwartz, loving husband, father of two children, and grandfather of two grandchildren, passed away at the age of 75.

Michael was born on April 27, 1943 in Chicago, IL to Michael and Bernice (Pinkus) Schwartz. He received an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Colorado and a MBA from the University of Chicago. On June 22, 1966 he married Miriam Kaplan. They raised a son, Donald, and a daughter, Megan.

Though he spent the majority of his working years as a Certified Public Accountant, Michael had a talent and passion for photography. More than just an amateur photographer, he had photos published in magazines and a National Geographic educational text book. Michael also had his own photography business on the side and he volunteered his time taking photos for the Phoenix Symphony. He could always be seen at family gatherings and events with his trusty camera, capturing two of his great loves - taking pictures and spending time with those he loved.

As "Papa” he was an adoring grandfather and welcoming face at basketball games and recitals. As "Treatmaster", he was a caring friend to many adopted felines over the years and to his parrot Gonzo. As a husband, he was a loving and doting partner to his wife of 39 years. And as a father, he was a supportive presence in his children's lives, both in their youth and into adulthood.

He was also a master of appreciating the simple pleasures of life, whether that meant hanging out at Starbucks, enjoying a bagel with lox, or watching one of the many sports teams that he and his family supported over the years. More than anything, Michael always seemed to make people smile with friendliness and quick wit.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by his sister Barrie and brother-in-law Howard, son and daughter-in-law Casey, daughter and son-in-law Diego, grandchildren Marcus and Alexandra, nephews Peter, Gregg, Todd and Michael, niece Kit and many cousins.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary at 1 o'clock p.m. In lieu of flowers, family is suggesting donations be made to the Arizona Humane Society.
