Veronica "Rocky" K. Beckwith, 82, of Taylor, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at her home.

Rocky was born in Taylor, on Feb. 28, 1925, a daughter of the late C. Ray and Mae Sergent Kellogg. A lifelong resident of the area, she was very active in the Taylor community where, in her earlier years, she played piano for the Taylor Methodist Church. She was a member of the Cincinnatus Fire Dept. Auxiliary, a former member of the Taylor Town Board and former Taylor Town Clerk. She also served on the election board for the Town of Taylor and a former board member for the Taylor Rural Cemetery Association. For many years, she prepared the beef for the cemetery association's annual Memorial Day dinner. She was a contributing writer to the Cortland Democrat newspaper on issues affecting Taylor and Cincinnatus. Rocky was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling for Cross' Flower Shop bowling team.

She is survived by her children, Alan (Linda) Beckwith of Willet, Jane (Michael) Richards of Modesto, Calif., JoAnn (John) Maricle of Cincinnatus, Chris Beckwith of Taylor, and Jon (Natalie) Beckwith of South Otselic. She is also survived by a brother, Boyd "Bud" (Ann) Kellogg of Virginia; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, in 1975, a son, Kary, in 1996, and a grandson, Corey, in 2007. She is also predeceased by her sister, Lora Lansdowne, and brothers, George and Larry Kellogg.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31 with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
