Sharon “Rae” Stagg Hunsaker, our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother peacefully passed away from natural causes on August 11, 2018 in Star Valley, Wyoming.

Rae was born to Charles Emanuel Stagg and Emma Jean Cox on November 17, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She had one older sister, Bonnie Jean and two younger half-brothers, Charles Jr and Dale.

Rae was a very talented woman, she sewed, crocheted, knitted and painted. She enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing, all while working full time as a registered nurse and raising her two daughters. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints her whole life. She was a descendent of the original Mormon pioneers.

She was very proud of her nursing degree. In 1966 she was in a horrible car accident and was very severely burned. After months in the hospital and more months of recuperation she was unable to resume the work that she had done prior to the accident. So as a single mother of two pre-teen daughters she decided to get her nursing degree as she had always dreamed of doing. She worked extra hard and completed the degree in only 3 years instead of the usual 4 years. She went on to work in surgery and labor and delivery but her passion was psychiatric nursing.

In 1985 Rae met J. Neil Hunsaker. She and Neil were married March 22, 1986 and sealed for time and eternity in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on October 2, 1987.

Rae has two daughters: Pam Beus (Richard) and Jackie Harvell (Joe), five grandsons: Brian Watters, Robert Watters (Patrice), Don Mallicoat (Candice), Zack Zellner (Ashley) and Zephaniah Zellner and seven great-grandchildren.

She also has three step-daughters: Kathryn Thomas (Robert), Geneil Tanner (Fred) and Denine Sullivan (Richard), eight grandchildren: Tyrel Voeltz (Jena), Megan Mullins (Trent), Kelly Higginson (Jamie), Christopher Gallegos (Amy), Sean Martinez (deceased) and Kaycie Hunsaker-Price (JW) and 11 great-grandchildren.

Rae was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bonnie and brother Dale.

An “Un-viewing” will be held from 10:30 to 11:15 at Valley View Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 West, West Valley City, Utah. We will then proceed to the grave-side service at 11:30 in the adjoining cemetery. Lunch will be served at the LDS Hunter East Stake Center, 5000 West Pavant Avenue (3725 South), enter from 5200 West.
