Ethel G. Friess, age 97, of Rice Lake, WI died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Rice Lake Convalescent Center.

The former Ethel Foster was born to Otto and Emilie (Guderian) Foster in Jackmood, TX. She stayed home from high school to care for her ailing stepfather. Ethel later moved to Rice Lake to work as a beautician for her sister Frieda Biron. On March 23, 1929 she was married to Albert G. Friess in Rice Lake. While he was a successful cattle dealer and rancher, she cared for her family. In addition to being an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, she belonged to bowling and golf leagues in Rice Lake for many years and had won a Women's Class A Golf Tournament with 10 putts.

Ethel Friess is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Herman & Judy Friess of Rice Lake, WI and Foster & Lynn Friess of Jackson, WY; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nettie Mae Jacobson of Rice Lake, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Friess on December 31, 1983; her parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Russell Sorensen officiating, with interment in Nora Cemetery.
