ROSE, Paula Joanne Floyd (Jody), of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. She was 83 years old.
Jody was preceded in death by her loving parents Paul Wilbur and Grace Morrow Floyd. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Elgin (Jeff) of Richmond, VA, and Julie Cooke (Lloyd Petersen) of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren Matthew and Andrew Elgin and Olivia and Sydney Petersen; her beloved sister Barbara Floyd Fryer; niece Susan Hayes; and nephews Michael (Jeanne) and David Hayes.
Jody was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in the spring of 1935. She graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. While at Maryland, she was a captain of the cheerleading team, Homecoming Queen, and a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Jody worked for many years at Xerox Corporation, and then at the Contemporary Art Center in Virginia Beach. She loved to garden and to knit. Above all, she loved her family, and cherished her grandchildren.
We would like to send our love and gratitude to the wonderful people at Brookdale Senior Living, Heritage Hall, and Medi-Home Health and Hospice, all of whom cared for Mom with skill, kindness, compassion and grace during her last few years. Jody will be going home to Pennsylvania, where she will be laid to rest among the family that she loves. We love you, Mom, and we miss you.
