On December 28, 1960 Vickie LaDell Birdsell was born to Arliss and Corkey Birdsell in Durango, Colorado.

She attended and graduated high school from Hobbs High School. Throughout her life Vickie worked in several offices and several years for Lea County Sheriff’s Dept. Then Vickie followed her dream and started her own photography business. She loved capturing special moments for other people. She had many things she loved in her life as she was always up to having a good time. She enjoyed working in her yard, traveling, and always doing something crafty, but Vickie’s biggest love was being with family just hanging out and maybe playing a game of good ol family poker.

On July 12, 1986 Vickie married the love of her life and partner to the end, Michael Wayne Edwards. They had two children together who were truly Vickie’s proudest possessions, Cody and Tawanna Edwards of Canton, Ohio and Heath and Cassie Lakin of Hobbs, NM. Vickie’s life was complete seeing her kids married and grown up, but what excited her the most was becoming a grandmother. Mimi is the name her beautiful granddaughters Madison And Audrey gave her, and she answered to that name with pride and a smile.

Vickie also leaves behind her mother Corkey, one brother and sister in law, Cary And Beverly Birdsell of New Home, Texas and two nieces she loved like her own as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, a great nephew, 2 great nieces and many friends.

On January 2, 2018, our sweet Vickie ended her battle with cancer and was called home. She won the fight and let me tell you fight til the end she did. She is walking the streets of gold today with a new healthy body and was met at those pearly gates by her father Arliss Birdsell, her grandparents Alvis and Lois Birdsell and Frank Whiteley, and several aunts and uncles. What a party in Heaven there must have been.

She will be missed here on Earth by so many, but we know this isn’t goodbye but just a simple see ya later. And until then, we love you Vickie - fly high and keep an eye on us all.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 am, Friday, January 5, 2018 at Cowboy Junction Church 9924 Catchings Road, Hobbs, NM with Pastor Ty Bean, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: WHI-Hobbs, 4008 N. Grimes #275, Hobbs, NM 88240 or American Cancer Society PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
