After graduating from the University of Utah, Sally and a girlfriend took a road trip to California. It was during this trip that Sally met the love of her life, Milton Hill, in Santa Barbara. Shortly after Sally and Milton were married, Milton was shipped off to the Korean War. Prior to Milton's deployment, Sally and her father-in-law, Milton Sr., drove from Santa Barbara to Fort Benning, GA to witness Milton's graduation from OCS training. On this trip across the country Milton Sr. taught Sally how to drive, an experience which Sally never forgot and loved to recount!
Following the war, Sally and Milton settled down in Montecito and began a family. It was with the birth of her first child, Chris, that Sally left her teaching position at Cleveland Elementary School to become a full-time homemaker. Milton and Sally's 2nd son, Phil, arrived soon after and the family was complete!
Family and friends were always important to Sally. In the 1960's and 70's their Oak Grove Drive neighborhood was host to several young families. This tight-knit community was filled with fun activities and events, particularly equestrian opportunities for the children. Family vacations with their neighbors offered regular summer adventure. Sally rode horses with her family and enjoyed the Choral Casino with her sons, while her regular bridge groups provided years of friendship, support and joy.
Throughout the years Sally and Milton enjoyed golfing and playing cards together, as well as with many of their friends. Sally and Milton were extensive travelers finding their way around the globe, including memorable trips to river fish in Alaska and a Safari in Africa.
At home in Montecito, Sally was the ever-supportive woman as her husband built a successful business. Sally was a marvelous cook and hostess and her home was a constant scene of elaborate meals and good company.Sally was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and her faith helped to shape her life and that of her family. In addition to her faith, Sally shared her time and talents with CALM, The Music Academy of the West and The Montecito Association.
Sally and Milton were members of Birnam Wood and The Valley Club of Montecito, where they spent many hours playing golf and cards or celebrating holidays with their sons and their growing families.
Sally is survived by her children Chris (Barbara) and Phillip (Fe); grandchildren and their spouses: Ryan Hill, Michelle Pisani (Alex) and Matthew Hill (Lindsay), and Justin Hill and Jennifer Hill. Married for 60 years, Milton predeceased Sally in 2012.
