James "Gomer" Ulmer Services for James "Gomer" Ulmer will be held Thursday, Mary 6, 2010 at 2:30 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Ron Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Reverend Jim Follis officiating at graveside. Mr. Ulmer, 62, of Meridian, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the U.S. Marines from 1968-1969. Mr. Ulmer retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 32 years. He was an avid race fan. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mary Ann Ulmer of Meridian; daughters, Gina DuValle and her husband Jon of Meridian, Angela Keller and her husband, John of Meridian; son, David Ulmer and his wife Hannah of Meridian; grandchildren, Dalton DuValle, Lexie DuValle, and Madison Keller; brother, Butch Ulmer of Michigan; uncle, Curtis Ulmer and his wife Irene of Athens, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan and Grace Ulmer; grandparents, George Bryan and Bertha Ulmer; cousin, David Joseph Ulmer, Shirley Ulmer and Barbara Ulmer. The family request memorials be made to Suqualena United Methodist Church, Jones Chapel Church of God Family Life Center or the Veteran organization of your choice. Pallbearers will be James Bunyard, Tommy Phillips, Harold Null, Eddie Odom, Earl Broadhead, Gary Hodgins, Ben Moore and Rodney Wing. Honarary pallbearer is Gene Harvey.
