Daniel Eugene “Dan” Black, 53, of Bloomington, Ind., formerly of Thompsontown, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on Saturday, November 24, 2018. . He was born on Nov. 15, 1965, in Lancaster.

He is survived by his son, Nick Bixler and girlfriend, Savannah Coffey, of Ind., his daughter Jillian Bixler, of Ky., two grandchildren, Wesley and Aiden Bixler, his siblings, Robin Snyder, of Harrisburg, Mike Maben, of Lewistown, Melissa Gettys, of Millerstown, Robert Black and wife, Heidi, of Mifflintown, and eight nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milton F. Black, his mother, Margaret L. (Maben) Black, his paternal grandparents, Milton and Mary (Stone) Black, and his maternal grandparents, Albert and Delsie (Snyder) Maben.

He previously worked for Hess Tires, for Dave Barnes Construction, doing mechanic work and most recently he owned and operated his own business, known as DB Construction.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, working, buying and fixing up used cars. Earlier in life he enjoyed bowling, go cart racing, hunting and fishing.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Solsberry Christian Church, 10825 E. Christian Church Road, Solsberry, IN 47459. Services are through The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN 47401. Memorial contributions may be made to The Funeral Chapel.
