Candace S. “Candy” Rogers, age 65, of Marengo, passed away Monday afternoon, May 25, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a battle with cancer since December of 2013.

On September 24, 1949, Candy was born in Mount Gilead, the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Betty E. (Sherman) Chipps. She received her high school diploma from Highland High School in 1973 and then received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 1997 from Galveston College in Texas.

Candy worked as a Registered Nurse throughout her life, beginning at the University of Texas Medical Branch, then Bennington Glen in Marengo, and lastly was employed by the State of Ohio, retiring in 2012.

In her spare time, Candy liked crafting and card making. She also enjoyed trying her luck with the slot machines or playing a friendly game of cards or Yahtzee.

Above all, Candy loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed going fishing with her boys and being around her grandchildren.

Candy will always be remembered as a loving and giving woman, but could be rather stubborn at times too. She was also quite the prankster and jokester. She always took care of everyone around her and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her three sons: Cary (Adrian) Rogers of San Francisco, CA, Mark (Darla) Rogers of Marengo, Aaron Rogers and his significant other Brenda Ferguson of Sparta; two grandchildren: Travis Rogers and his significant other Trisha Bartram of Ashville, NC, Ali Rogers of Marengo; a step-grandson, Andrew Riffle of Marengo; three step-great-grandchildren: Andrew Jr., Anthony, and Addison; two brothers, Dennis and Eric Chipps; two sisters, Christine Rassmusson and Cynthia Clark; and her little Yorkie, “Clif”.

A gathering in Candy’s remembrance will be held for her at the Highland Middle School, 6506 State Route 229, Marengo, OH 43334, on Saturday May 30th, 2015 from 3:00pm – 7:00pm.

Rather than flowers, memorial contribution Candy’s honor may be made to The American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Rd, Dublin, OH 43017or online at www.cancer.org.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead are honored to have been chosen to serve Candy’s family, and your condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
