Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Mary Back, of Pleasant Hill, Illinois; and his sister, Mary Browning of Colorado, and Pittsfield, Illinois.
He is lovingly remember by his wife of 35 years, Patricia Sullivan Back; sons Dion Back and Derek (Mary) Back; grandchildren Rachel, Amanda, Ryan, and Abbi; and great grandchildren Chase, Chad, Eddie, Gavin, and Davis. Ralph also leaves behind grieving cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, classmates and colleagues in Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, California, and other states.
Ralph spent his childhood in Illinois, was called to serve his country in the Air Force and spent some time in Morocco, and put his training to use afterward in a long career with McDonnell Douglas. After retiring, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by volunteering with the Wentzville Police Department, where he developed many lasting friendships. Through his pastimes of hunting, fishing, and collecting he formed numerous lifelong relationships.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. with Mass to follow, Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church, 4112 McClay Road, St. Charles, MO 63304. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service, or Wounded Warrior Project.
