Daughter of Joseph and Lucy Hudson Hunter Lane, wife of James Smith McDonnell, to whom she was married in Star City, Arkansas in 1890. She was instrumental in the organization of the First Methodist Church of Altheimer, Arkansas. After the family moved to Little Rock she became active in the School Improvement Association (predecessor of the Parent-Teacher Association) and assisted in the organization of Pulaski Heights Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Edelweiss Club.
