Barbara Mae (Brandt) Bowers of Lancaster was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. She was born at home on Penn Avenue in Lancaster, PA May 20, 1921 to Arthur Brandt Sr. and Ruth (Hoke) Brandt and grew up with her sister, Lillian and brother, Arthur Jr. and many cousins on Penn Avenue and Dauphin Street.

After attending McCaskey High School, she worked a variety of jobs over many years at hometown companies including Hamilton Watch, Umbrella Works, Brunswick Hotel, Stevens House and Simplex Box Factory. She was very proud to be part of the first student group to enter J. P. McCaskey in the fall of 1937.

Barbara was a life-long member of Faith United Church of Christ (prev. Faith Reformed) and a well-known caregiver, pinochle player and crossword puzzle warrior at Prince Street Towers (Ruoff Tower) for 18 years. She resided at Lancashire Hall, Neffsville the past 3 years. She was a very compassionate friend and neighbor. Barbara was the epitome of use it or lose it. She always said: "Just keep moving."

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Ruth, Lillian, and brother, Arthur Jr. She is survived by two sons: Robert (Pat) Gebhard, Ephrata, PA and Jere (Sharon) Brandt, Lenexa, KS; six grandchildren - most notably Jere Brandt Jr., her devoted "care angel" Donna (Harry) Nauss, James (Katina) Brandt and Thomas (Michelle) Brandt; eleven great-grandchildren including her "special courier" Kyle (Alyssa) Brandt and ten great-great-grandchildren. In addition, Barbara was a very special aunt for Jeffery (Martha) Brandt and Stephen (Jean) Brandt. Her family will dearly miss her feisty and upbeat persona and unique "never quit" spirit.

Friends and relatives are invited to a Funeral Service at the Groffs Family Funeral and Cremations Services, 528 W. Orange Street, Lancaster PA (corner of W. Orange & Pine Sts.) on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. A Viewing will be held at Groffs on Friday from 12-1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Riverview Burial Park in Lancaster.
