Elmer “Elmo” Rose, Jr., 68 of Princeton died Saturday, November 24, 2018 at his residence. Born June 13, 1950 in Wilco, WV he was the son of the late Elmer Harry Rose and Beulah Juanita Graham Rose. Elmo was a graduate of Gary High School where he played baseball, a graduate of Bluefield State College with an Electrical Engineering Degree, and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a retired coal miner at US Steel #50 with twenty nine years service. Elmo was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans and the United Mine Workers of America. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Jeanne Walters Rose; second wife, Kathy Rose; and one son, Joey Ray Rose. Survivors include two sons, Michael Allen Rose and partner, Robin Levy of Colorado Springs, CO and Elmer “Moe” Rose, III and wife Kelley of Fairmont, WV; one daughter, Charity Fawn Lester and husband Chris of Germany; eight grandchildren, Morgan Jeanne Rose, Marshall Rose, Travis Lewis, Christopher Lester, Chyllian Lester, Levi Hamilton, Mayhala Jackson and Jona Jackson; four siblings, Wanda Gaye Reece and husband Rick of Princeton, Bob Rose and wife Barbara of Creedmore, NC, Donna Donithan of Bluewell, and Debbie Gardner and husband Keith of Pensacola, FL; and three step-children, Caitlin. Michael, and Jimmy Allison, all of Welch. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with the WV National Guard Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Saturday.
