Mary was the wife of Elijah Major Blagg, Sr. They married on November 11, 1870, in Hites Cove, Mariposa County, California, and they had five children. They made their home at Deer Flat.

Mary came to the United States with her parents and siblings when she was a small child and lived in Marshalltown, Iowa.

On September 21, 1891, Mary was brought to the county jail in Sonora, having shown signs of insanity. She was found insane and committed to Stockton State hospital for the rest of her life.
