Mary T. Karr 65, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2012 at Charleston Area Medical Center, after a brief illness.

She was born May 1, 1946, daughter of the late Ofa and Nettie White Thompson of Long Ridge in Roane County. She is survived by beloved husband of 41 years George and treasured daughter Mary Kathryn "Kitty" both of Charleston.

Mary was a 1964 graduate of Walton High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the Valedictorian of her class. She graduated in 1968 from Marshall University with a B.A. in Political Science and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority.

She retired as a paralegal from the State of West Virginia in 2005. Mary was a member of the Junior League of Charleston and the John Young Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mary was blessed with many friends and was an avid WVU fan. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother and loyal friend.

There will be a viewing for friends and family from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. followed by a Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston. Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery in Roane County.
