Ronald was born March 14, 1948 in Alpena to the late Donald and Ruth (Dery) Ferris. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War receiving a Purple Heart. On January 13, 1984 he married Julie McSorley. Ronald worked for Besser Company, retiring in 2008. He was a member of Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496, Thunder Bay Pool League, and All Saints Parish. He enjoyed woodworking, playing country music on his guitar, pool, gardening, 4 wheelers, hunting, baseball, Detroit Tigers, but most important was his family.
Surviving are his wife, Julie; three children, Ronald (Holly) Ferris Jr., Jennifer (Shannon Pingel) Downey, Charlene (Joseph) Sparling; 6 grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Tristan, Shayne, Lexie, Sophie; sister, Patricia (Richard) Price; niece and nephew, Tricia & James; and several great nephews.
Memorial visitation will take place on Friday at Bannan Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the memorial service at 4 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating followed by military honors accorded him by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496.
Inurnment: Pilgrims Rest Cemetery
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Wounded Warriors.
