Marie R. (Sherin) Maurano, age 99, of Quincy for over seventy years, died peacefully, Monday, November 26, 2018 at Royal Braintree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Marie was born in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania to the late Walter and Frances (Nejako) Sherin. She was raised and educated there and graduated from Jefferson College of Nursing in Philadelphia. She served as a nurse in the United States Navy during World War II. During her time in the service, she met her late husband, Peter J. Maurano, at a military dance in New York City. At the time, Peter was serving as a commander of a Navy PT boat.

She was a devoted homemaker who was dedicated to her family. She also worked for a short time as a registered nurse at the former Quincy City Hospital.

Marie was a longtime parishioner of Saint John the Baptist Parish in Quincy where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed arts and crafts as well as playing the piano and organ. Marie also enjoyed ice skating and roller skating and all things academic.

She is survived by her children; a brother. She was predeceased by one brother and seven sisters.

Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
