She was the daughter of Bernard and Florence (Klotz) Hauer. She married three times and survived them all. First she married John 'Jack' Cahill, then on Nov 21, 1980, she married Walter C. Post, and then on Jan 22, 1983, she married James D. Slavik.
Surviving are two sons: Matthew (Mary), St. Henry, and Douglas (Terre) Cahill, Nashville, TN; a daughter, Margaret 'Peggy' (Jack) Berry, Alpharetta, GA; a sister, Lucy Klein, Crestview Hills, KY; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters: Jane Bertke and Susan Rawlings.
A graduate of St. Henry High School, Erlanger, KY, she moved to St. Henry, OH, two weeks after marrying Jack. In 1969, she learned how to run the kidney machine at home in order to keep her husband, Jack, alive. The Cahills were early pioneers in home dialysis, with the entire St Henry community pitching in to blaze this trail together. A homemaker, she was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys. She had served as President of the Otterbein St. Marys Resident Council and was very active as a volunteer at Otterbein, and for hospice care in Fairfield Glade, TN. She was a great cook and will be remembered fondly for her unique ability to combine humor and love better and more naturally than anyone on earth!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, with Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. Private family burial rites will be held at St. Henry Cemetery.
