Barbara Ann Duke was born January 27, 1930 to Millard “Sid” and Allie (Talkington) Thomas in Hydro, Oklahoma. She was raised and attended schools in Hydro. On February 22, 1947 Barbara and Denson D. Duke Jr. were married in Wheeler, Texas and made their home south of town. Later they would move north of town and in 1975 they settled in town. Barbara started working at the Hydro Coop in 1948. She worked at the Coop for over 40 years retiring in 1989. She enjoyed yard work, horses, going to the lake, and water skiing. Her favorite times were spent with her family.

Barbara is survived by one daughter Diann Grubb and her husband, Vernon, of Hydro, Oklahoma; one brother William “Bill” Thomas and his wife, Cindy, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister Sidonna Black of Greensboro, North Carolina; one sister-in-law Alma Duke of Yukon, Oklahoma; one grandchild Destry D’Lon Christensen; one great-grandchild Destry Duke Christensen; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Allie Thomas, and her husband, Denson.

The family would like to send their thanks to Maple Lawn Manor for the loving care that Barbara received. The family would ask that memorials be made to the Hydro First Responders. There will not be any funeral services per Barbara’s request.
