Lela Juanita Walker was borne in Ola, Arkansas on March 10, 1920. Her parents, Thomas and Beulah Garner, migrated to Santa Paula during her teen age years. She had 5 sisters, Verdel, Syble, Wilma, Viola and Mildred. The early part of her adult life was spent in Santa Paula where she met her husband, Clayton, and later gave birth to Larry and Patrecia. Subsequently the family lived in several Southern California locations due to Clayton’s transfers and promotions with the JCPenney Company.

Juanita was a very hard worker and did everything she could to make a good life for her family. As her children grew up she secured paying jobs with Rainbow Plastics and Capitol Records where she operated molding presses. Later in life, Juanita became the Manager of a Senior Apartment Unit in Ventura, a position she loved very much. Juanita was known as a great cook and is still famous for her Taco recipe. Her hobby was Ball Room Dancing, which probably attributed to her years of good health.

Juanita went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 4, 2018. She will be sadly missed by her surviving children Larry and Patrecia and 5 grandchildren.

Juanita’s final resting place will be Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura, California.
