ALBERT N. (Bert) POFFENBERGER, 76, of 5 Fourth St., died Tuesday at his home. Born in Washington County, he was the son of Jacob B. and Alice E. Fisher Poffenberger. His wife, Nellie R. Longnecker Poffenberger died in 1977.
He was owner and operator of the Security Tavern from 1950 to 1968.
He is survived by two daughters, Hilda M. Linn, Hagerstown; and Shirley A. Gish, Va.; son, Richard L. Poffenberger, Hagerstown; sister, Ina Henson, Hagerstown; three brothers, Jennings, Baltimore; and Jacob and Gerald Poffenberger, both of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel. Burial in Rest Haven Cemetery.
