Son of George Washington Provin II and Katherine Emmeline Smith; married to Emma Ellen Thran, had four children, George Washington Provin III, Gilbert Richard Provin, Carol Ann Provin, and Jonathan March Provin. Deserted his family in 1934 while Emma was still pregnant with Jonathan. Fled the State of Michigan, moved to California to be near two of his brothers, Smith and Owen. Changed his name to Walter Clark Bain, took a job with Northrop Grumman as an airplane mechanic. No other spouses or children are known. Passed away from a heart attack at his home, alone. His sister, Katie, notified his children of his passing. Buried under his alias in a paupers grave arranged by the State of California. His son George changed his name to George Webster Proven. Gilbert, Carol and Jonathan changed their last names to Proven.
