Ben Jenkins Jr., age 80, long-time resident of Wheelersburg, OH, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at his home in Hilliard, OH.
Ben was a dad to his sons, friend to everyone, Papaw to his own and many more. He spent the majority of his career working at Detroit Steel and Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority and he and Janet also owned the Greenup Flower Shop in Greenup, KY.
Ben enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren play sports and attending their activities. He was an avid bowler, golfer and NASCAR fan; where he enjoyed taking his RV to the races. Ben also loved the outdoors, growing tomatoes and listening to country music.
Ben was a gentle soul. He always had a smile and genuine greeting for everyone he met. He taught the value of hard work and just doing the right thing. He always put others before himself and, without knowing it, he modeled his life as an example of how to live a life.
Preceded in death by wife Janet Jenkins, son Dennis Jenkins, parents Ben and Rissie Jenkins, 6 siblings and mother-in-law Lucy (Kate) Davis. Survived by son Kelly (Jennifer “Michael”) Jenkins, 6 siblings, grandchildren Corey and Kyle Jenkins, Cameron, Caleb and Christian Jenkins, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Family will receive friends Thursday 5-8 pm at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. Family will also receive friends Saturday 11 am-1 pm at Harrison- Pyles Funeral Home, 11623 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg, OH 45694; where funeral service will follow at 1 pm.
