Mrs. Betty J. Rowell, age 78, of Winnfield, La went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 25th of 2018 at St. Francis Cabrini hospital in Alexandria, La. She was born on January 21, 1940 in Winnsboro, LA and was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to all. She was very proud of her family and loved being surrounded by each of them any chance she could get. No one ever left her home hungry and without a smile on their face. Her overwhelming love and kindness brought warmth and a sense of home to all that she met. Her family loves her dearly and will greatly miss each and every moment without her.
Mrs. Rowell was preceded in death by her mother, Clorea Richardson Smith, her father, Willie L Smith, her husband, Gerald "Spunky" Rowell and her brother, Wille S Smith.
Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Jones (Glynn) of Winnfield La. and Tammy Gill (Rusty) of Pooler Ga.; Grand children, Seth Jones (Jennifer), Ethan Jones (Chole), Heath Cole (Maggie), Fanci Cole (MacKenzie); Brother, Gerald Smith of Winnfield La.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with Rev. Bob Tugle, Rev. Karl Huff and Rev. Kenneth Stanfill officiating. Interment will follow in Couley Double Churches Cemetery in Winnfield.
Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Thursday from noon until services.
