Jack Fowler, age 80, of Winchester, passed away peacefully and met his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.

He was born on April 17, 1935 in Winchester to Pete and Lucille (Hutson) Fowler. He was a 1954 graduate of Winchester High School and had served in the Indiana National Guard for 17 1/2 years. Jack loved Winchester and was very active in his community. He had a strong history of public service and promotional work. He started working at Overmyer Mould Co. as a mould maker and eventually worked his way up to become the Chairman of the Board of Directors, retiring in 1990. In 1972, he was elected to the Winchester City Council and served District 2 until 1980 when he won the mayoral election. Jack served as the mayor of Winchester for five terms, from 1980-2000.

He was also a member of or had been active in the following organizations: Aloha International Steel Guitar Club, Winchester Lions Club, United Way of Randolph County, Inc, Multi-State Glass League, Winchester Moose Lodge, Winchester Masonic Lodge F & AM #56, Winchester Order of the Eastern Star, Winchester Area Chamber of Commerce, Smile Promotions, State Board of Health Task Force, LifeStream Services, Inc., Randolph County FEMA, Work One Region, Randolph County Area Planning Board, Randolph County Economic Development and Tourism, Winchester Main Street Board of Directors, Winchester Jaycees, Randolph County Lincoln Club, Winchester American Legion #39, Winchester Board of Public Works and Safety, OMCO Local #112, Randolph County Solid Waste Board of Directors, Y’s Owls, American Cancer Society, American Lung Association-Randolph County, and the Red Cross Board of Directors.

Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet S. (Copper) Fowler of Winchester; four children, Heidi (Kent) Van Note of Winchester, Amy Fowler of Iron Mountain, MI, Matthew (Seveana) Fowler of New Castle and Luke (Tammy) Fowler of Union City, IN; ten grandchildren, Nicole Van Note, Ryan (Nichole) Van Note, Jerica Fowler, KayLee (Brandon) Netherton, Kody (Brooke) Fowler, Seth Fowler, Korbin Fowler, Adam Fowler Murray, Kolton Fowler and Kloee Fowler; a great granddaughter, Addison Fowler; with two more great grandchildren on the way; an uncle, Jack Hutson of Muncie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, Otis Moyer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Winchester with Pastor Gary Taylor officiating. Friends and relatives may call from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Farmland Christian Church, 212 N. Main St., Farmland, IN 47340. A Masonic service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
