George William Dixon of Centreville, MD, passed away peacefully at his home on November 24, 2018.

Born in Cecil County on Sept. 19, 1948, he was the son of the late Wilson E. Dixon and Mary Whitlock Dixon. Growing up, Mr. Dixon worked with his father farming and milking cows. He continued his career in agriculture, moving first to Middletown, DE, and then to Cecilton. upon his marriage to the former Mary Bedwell on April 20, 1974, the couple made their home in Betterton and then Tranquility Farm. Mr. Dixon worked in farming until his health began to fail. Mr. Dixon enjoyed cutting grass and always had a business doing so in addition to his work on the farm. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting for deer, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Eileen Dixon; a daughter, Jessica Eileen Cook (Michael), of Centreville, MD; two grandchildren: Sydney and Morgan; and his siblings: Wilson Dixon, Lydia Parent, Mary “Susie” Eveland, Robert Dixon and Larry Dixon. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Wright; and brother, James Dixon.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, MD, where friends and family may visit on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Burial will follow the service in Chesterfield Cemetery.
