James Marion Gatewood, 88, passed away on November 22, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He was born in, Tennessee on January 18, 1930 to Gosby and Juanita Gatewood.
Jim was owner and operated of Jim Sears Motor. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, fishing, flying and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.
James is survived by his sons, Mike and Gary Gatewood; daughter, Dawn Stubbelfield; step sons, Rick and Rodney Boals; step daughters, Cindy Boals, Vickie Taylor, Vivian Sue (Bob Foronato) Boals; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sisters, Nannie Lou Crittendon and Shirley Rush. He is preceded in death by, wife Kathleen; father Gosby and mother Juanita Gatewood; brothers, Billy, Bobby and Gene Gatewood; step son, Larry Boals and grandson, Jimmy Gatewood.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the funeral home.
