John attended grade school and high school in Newell, where he graduated from Newell Providence in 1964. After high school, John enlisted in the Navy where he faithfully served his country from December of 1965 until September of 1969. During his time of service, he served in the Vietnam War.
On June 8, 1968, John was united in marriage to Beverly Fitchett at the United Methodist Church in Newell. The couple was blessed with 6 children: Donald, Linda, Diane, Julie, Nancy, and Brian.
John was active in his community through being an Alta VFW member, Assistant Scoutmaster with Newell Boy Scout Troop 102, and formerly a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
In his free time, John enjoyed hunting, playing cards, dancing, and traveling to Branson. Above all, John loved to spend time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Donald Wise of Sioux City, Iowa; Linda (David) Nase of Milford, Iowa; Nancy (Gary) Richter of Hartley, Iowa; Brian (Ann) Wise of Newell, Iowa; sisters, Janet (Glen) Pedersen of Marion, Iowa and Karen (Luke) Druivenga of New Market, Iowa; grandchildren: Jacob, Andrew, Daniel, and Heather Nase of Milford, Iowa; Chris Wise of Hartley, Iowa; Aaron Jansen of Omaha, Nebraska; Cole and Corinne Wise of Newell, Iowa; step-grandchildren, Chance Richter of Altoona, Iowa and Kaci Richter of Hartley, Iowa; and extended family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Evelyn Wise; brother, Keith Wise; and two daughters, Diane Wise and Julie Wise.
