Richard Douglas Abernathy, 68 of Marietta, GA, passed away November 24, 2018. A graveside service was held at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Abernathy is survived by his sons Ricky (Holly) Abernathy and Darrell Abernathy; daughter April (Bert) Chapman; and grandchildren Grace, Eli, Boston, and Dallas. Mr. Abernathy is preceded in death by his parents E.R. Abernathy and Evelyn Abernathy (nee Gilbert).

He was born in Marietta March 3, 1950. He was a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and NASCAR. In his spare time he enjoyed his garden and fishing.
