Clarence, a native of Pitt County, served in the US Army during Vietnam and lived 21 years in Duncan, OK following his military service. In 1986, he moved back to Pitt County where he worked as a long distance truck driver. He loved racing, Duke Basketball and his beloved dogs, Baby and Poochie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Doris Wells; brother, Linwood Wells; sister, Katherine Braswell; and a niece, Tiffany McKeel.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Kathy Wells; children, Timothy Vandiford and girlfriend Tammy Boone, Kimberly Hanks and husband Shannon, Nikki Meeks, Jesse Vandiford, Jr. and Michael Cowan and wife Patty; 17 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and siblings, Marvin Wells, Brenda Wood, Brenda Leaphart and husband Buddy, and Robert Wells and wife Linda.
