Mrs. Catherine Bailey Williamson, age 96, formerly of Vaughn St. Union, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at the home of her niece, Kay and Randy Wilburn with whom she had made her home for the past year. Mrs. Williamson was the widow of Thomas Burton Williamson, Sr.

Mrs. Williamson was born in Union, May 15, 1922, a daughter of the late William Edgar Bailey and Aline Sprouse Bailey. She was a graduate of Union High School and in 1943 completed the Nursing Program at Spartanburg General Hospital. Mrs. Williamson retired as a Registered Nurse at Union Co. Health Dept. where she had also served as Director. She had also worked as a nurse with Monarch Mill and Wallace Thompson Hospital. Mrs. Williamson was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she had served on various committees and as a Sunday School teacher.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas Burton Williamson, Jr. of Union and Eddie Williamson and wife Ruth Ann of Jonesville; a brother, Dwight Bailey and wife Mamie of Simpsonville; three grandchildren: Dillon Williamson of Simpsonville, Todd Baldwin of Duncan and Nikki Mills of Fountain Inn; four great-grandchildren: Taylor, Jonathan, Colin and Ariel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Betty B. Greer.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to her Hospice Nurse, Rachael Dean and Social Worker, Cheri Freeman of Spartanburg Regional Hospice and Mrs. Williamson’s caregivers, Vinnie, Missy and Sharon Kay for their love and support over the past year.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Vaughn and Chaplain Andrew Fischer. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Brian Henderson, Tommy Anthony, Kevin Smith, Brad Valentine, David Taylor, Allen Alexander, Doug Alexander and Wilbur Smith.

Retirees of the Union Co. Health Dept. and fellow members of the Catherine Williamson Sunday School Class are asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 PM Wednesday at the church prior to the services.
