Frances Hoffman (1917 - 2018)

Frances Hoffman died at the age of 101 and 8 months old on October 9, 2018. She passed, as she wished, at her home of 53yrs in Fair Oaks, CA. Frances was born February, 3, 1917, in Sacramento, CA, to James and Delia Svilich. She was first generation born in the US and was proud of her Croatian heritage. Frances attended Sacramento High School. She was a lifelong accomplished artist having attended the Art Institute in San Francisco.

She met and married the love of her life, Edward Hoffman, in 1943 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in downtown Sacramento. She embraced the life of an Air Force officer's wife, during which time she and Ed had six children while living in Japan and multiple US states. Ed passed too early in 1973. Afterward, Frances went on to work in the Special Education department of Rio Americana High School. She enjoyed raising and arranging prize winning Chrysanthemums. Frances was very independent, humorous, loved family, home, entertaining and animals. No matter who you were or why you were there, she made sure you were fed.

Frances is survived by her six children, Jim, Bill, Fritz, Marie, Patty and Kathleen Hoffman. Frances had 11 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Dec. 8, 2018, at the Carmichael Elks Lodge, 5361 Cypress Ave., Carmichael, Ball room B, from 11:00-2:00pm.
