Mr. Richard T. Richardson, Jr., 70, of Midway, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Savannah to the late Richard T. Richardson, Sr. & Vera Mae Lane Richardson. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. He worked for the highway department from 1966-1969 and was part of the crew that cut in the road for public access to Old Fort Jackson. He then worked for Great Dane for a short time. He began his police career under Sheriff Carl Griffin with Chatham County from 1970 until 1972, then with the Chatham County Police Department from 1972 until he retired in 1998. While with Chatham County Police Deparment, his favorite time was when he was involved with the D.A.R.E. Community program on Wilmington Island. He was a member of the Roger Lacey Masonic Lodge #722 F&AM, former member of Savannah Lions Club, and enjoyed fishing and guns.
The graveside funeral and burial will be on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Bethel Cemetery located at 1306 Little Neck Road in Savannah.
