. Lillie (Williams) Carter, 88, of the Clayton community passed away 3:35 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2018, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Joint funeral services for Mrs. Carter and her brother Mr. Charley Williams.

Mrs. Carter was born July 30, 1930, in Obion County, son of the late Horace Frank and Lessie Lee (Roberts) Williams. She married Fred A. Carter July 19, 1948. He preceded her in death October 26, 2006. Mrs. Carter was the first lady mail carrier to serve in Plymouth, Michigan and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Mitzi Grimes of Sellersburg, Indiana; one son, Kerry Carter (Rosa) of Newbern; three grandchildren, Jacob Carter of the Clayton community, Daniella Ramirez of McKenzie and Ryan Grimes of Clarksville, Indiana; six great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Robert Williams of Union City and Charley Williams of South Fulton who passed away on Friday.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Arietta Fowlkes and Molene Marshall; and one brother, Milton Williams.
