Hugh Larry Currey, 78, of Salem (Big Flint Community), departed this life on Monday, April 5, 2010, at his residence.
He was born on January 1, 1932, at Wallace a son of the late Arley E. and Opal (Currey) Currey.
He is survived by his former wife, Patricia (Patty) Davis Currey .
Surviving are one grandson, Ryan M. Currey and wife, Amanda; two brothers, Arol Currey and wife, Shirley and Bob Currey and wife, Diane; one sister, Darlene (Currey) Marks and husband, Bernard and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Nannette Hope and Debra Jean Currey; one son, Larry Michael Currey; two brothers, Richard "Dick" Currey and Michael A. Currey and one sister, Charlene Currey Simpkins.
Hugh was employed by Hope Gas Company as an Inspector of Pipelines by helicopter in the early 1950's. After working for 37 years he retired as a pipeline specialist. He served with the 1092nd National Guard, in Salem. Hugh was a member of the Church of the Brethren, Moorefield.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010, in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Dr. John R. Freeman presiding. Interment will follow in the K of P Memorial Park, Salem. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home chapel on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 4-8 PM
